If you live in Charlotte or anywhere near, you’ve most definitely heard of Kindred, the award-winning restaurant in Davidson, NC. Kindred is known for their milk bread, gorgeous dining room and decor, and creative menu.
After being open for less than three years, the husband and wife team, Joe and Katy Kindred, have opened their second venture named Hello, Sailor in the old Rusty Rudder spot on Lake Norman. And it looks nothing like it used to. The space now looks more like a 1950’s Palm Springs restaurant, than the old watering hole that you used to tie your boat up to during the summer.
Not only is the decor inviting, fresh and unique; but the menu is exceptional as well. I immediately fell in love with the lobster rolls and that will most likely be my sole reason for returning again soon.
You can also find interesting dishes like a Fried Bologna Sandwich, Shrimp & Duck Gumbo, and Salt & Pepper NC Catfish. In addition to a seafood-focused menu, the craft cocktails at Hello, Sailor are refreshing and flavorful. You can choose from cocktails in tiki glasses or canned beer specifically brewed by Free Range Brewing for Hello, Sailor. The soft serve ice cream is also a nice touch to end your meal.
Just like Kindred, the staff at Hello, Sailor is attentive and just generally thrilled to be a part of something where so much thought has gone into each and every detail. If you visit soon, expect the service to be top notch.
Ready to visit Hello, Sailor? From now until further notice, the restaurant is open daily at 5pm. The restaurant accepts walk-in guests only so be sure to plan ahead in anticipation of potential long lines for dinner service.
